Micro 3 Title sequence

This third sequence I found the most interesting project I had filmed so far, which was a title sequence of a film or a television show of my choice. My inspiration was watching NCIS, I had chosen this them because it has the most dramatic, creative and mysterious title sequence to film what attract the audiences.

I had shoot my title sequence in a quite room, but this time I had used a series of different props to make the sequence look convincing. The props I had used was a skeleton figurine, within panning shots going left right but from different parts of the figure. The reason why I had chosen this prop, was because my theme was an crime detective show. The prop made the sequence look even more convincing and the theme more realistic in a sense.

I had used a lighting equipment for the first time while shooting this project, and it was an old warmth temperature light exposure. I didn’t like using this lighting equipment as I found it actually dangerous to use. If you would leave the light on for long, then it would eventually get really hot and could potentially burn someone if you had touched it. Another reason why didn’t like using it was the due to it not having exposure level changes. That means I couldn’t turn the brightness up or down, just like the other lighting equipment. However the brightness was just bright enough to capture the skeleton in perfect detail.

The health and risk measurements for using this light equipment I would say high and was extreme. The reason why I would list it in this category was due to the amount of heat been projected of this equipment. If you left the lighting equipment on its own (left on) it somehow fell to the floor, it could have that potential to set the room on fire.

I had once again shoot with a black magic camera and really liked the advantages I had with the features this time. I found it quite useful to shoot with again, the reason why I had chosen this equipment was based on the quality of the footage been captured. The concept appeared to be cinematic and also had a focus feature that projected a lazy light feature on the system so you could adjusted the focus more in the dark.

I did like using the adobe primer pro editing software to use for this project to capture my title sequence. The soft ware was beneficially to use was  a colour correction feature which mean that I could change the tone of the footage to create an atmosphere to dawn on the audiences emotion.

Micro 4 lighting advertisement

The one advert which stood out for me as part research would be the iPhone X. The footage is easy to capture with different panning and tilt shots. The advert explains to you all of the updates to the last product.

My lighting advertisement was more to do with gaining a better understanding by working out what was the correct exposure to use. I tested three different lights and found that the Brightness captures the most detail to the product. Where as the darkest and mid-tone wasn’t successful for shooting an advert.

The product I decided to record was a Rode Microphone, I felt like this product had so many qualities and features which was included to make a good piece of equipment for recording sound.

I decided to shoot in a dark location because I was able to begin different experiments with the light equipment. How I did it was changing the exposure of the light equipment I had from high, medium and low. The reason why I did this was because not only was I shooting an advertisement but I wanted to show which was the best lighting exposure to use for any recording project. I felt like the bright light exposure, been shown on the light equipment was able to bring out the attention to detail to capture the product of advertising. The medium light exposure was bright enough to capture the product but didn’t bring out that much detail. The low light exposure I didn’t like the most was because it was too dark to show the product in the footage. This meant that the product would be hard to see and promote in any advertisement. In total I wouldn’t like to do this again, in terms of experimenting with light exposures, I didn’t feel like my content was creative and I want to experiment more instead of going through the basics.

I had to use additional pieces of equipment such as a tri pod stand, the correct lens equipment and the black magic camera. I felt like I had too many shaking camera footage from the title sequence so I needed to capture footage that was stable and looked visible to the audiences.

The health and safety risk of filming in this quite location would be the use of electronics from the lighting equipment. If something was wrong with the lights what could then lead to an electrical fire, I don’t have any fire extinguisher electrical class E to put out any of the flames. Another healthy and safety risk would be the amount of trip wires been left around the studio, anyone carrying pieces of heavy equipment could potential trip over and injure themselves.

Micro 1 Podcast

After doing a series of researching watching different examples of podcasters, I learned that best way to do it is just go straight into topic. Final tip would be include the all of the important facts.

I decided to film my Podcast in a quite and empty studio facility, that featured sound proofing which covered around the walls. This manged to reduce the noise density of the recordings so I wouldn’t have interrupted anyone at all. I would defiantly would decided to shoot in the studio again because of the accessories which was included.

I had recorded my Podcast on a Rode microphone what had a dynamic range of features such as a Two switchable low cut filters that reduce the low – frequency of rumble and compensate with bass for close mic techniques. I chosen to use this microphone because it managed to record a wide range of sound that helped capture a clear and sharp sound voice recording for me to use for my podcast.

In terms of editing the podcast, I had decided to use Logic pro X on the Apple computer to recorded and edit my podcast. The reason why I had chosen this software instead of Adobe auction was because the software had a practical feature which was a 3 second timer. The timer will allow you to be prepared for 3 seconds before you started to record. Another beneficial feature was Logic Pro X allowed me to recorded and edit my podcast in the one software altogether. This reduced my time to complete my podcast and tools were easy to find.

The tools I had only use to edit my voice recording was mainly the scissor tool bar which found about the time limit of how much content had been recorded. Once I had found the scissor tool, I would only need to cut out footage that wasn’t needed and then straight after I began to export my podcast.

The health and safety risks I had to be fully aware of was the wires within the recording studio which was found lying around. If I had tripped over one of the wires I could of badly hurt myself, not to an extend just for me to make others aware of the dangers.

The podcast has the main key points as well as the valid information I planned to include. The successful part was to sum up everything in the short space of time without going over or missing the important parts. However, my voice began to shake at least 20 seconds during the shoot due to my confidence. I have learnt a lot of other key elements I would want to do next time to improve my podcast.

Micro 2

For research I had watched different Vox Pops videos, one was based what is the best location to find people. One was how to keep the conversations flowing. Final was all do with creating an interview set.

The location me and my partner decided to film our Vox Pops was actually in the same studio room as my podcast. The reason why I decided to work their again, because it was an isolated location which made it easier for use to film the individuals without capturing background noise.

Me and my partner had two roles between us, he was a the sound recorder which meant he had to film the sound using a boom microphone. Me and Jordan managed to work really well with great communication skills, Jordan would stand close to the candidates to make sure the microphone was positioned well. My role was to also make sure the camera was levelled with the candidates to have the framing to be successful. I had to count to 3 out loud to let Jordan know I was about to record. That way we would both would have in sync recordings from both sides together.

I was a director and needed to film using a black magic camera. I disliked using the black magic camera at first because it was a struggle to set up the actual camera to begin filming your content. The camera just had a series of play, record, rewind, stop and Pause button. To change the settings you would have to mainly do it on the screen, this did make the production feel time consuming as I am used to filming with a Cannon camera which does have manual settings outside of the camera. However the black magic was a lot better in terms of the footage I had gathered afterwards.

I had to ask only one question to each candidate who participate in the Vox pop which was only three people. The question was “What camera would you use to record a movie?” The reason why I asked n was to help brand new media students in the future to understand what would be the best camera equipment is recommend the most.

In terms of editing the footage I had use Premium pro, the reason why I had decided to use this software was the amount of features which was easy to find and use. It had a category of Editing, colour, graphics and more and these tools helped make the content look visually professional which I would recommend to other users. I found it challenging with the sound been in separate files, I had to make sure each sound was in sync with the individuals voices.
